USPP’s Novi Terminal, acquired in August 2018, is strategically located at the terminus of the Buckeye pipeline, with the nearest competing terminal approximately 30 miles away in Detroit, MI. Due to high freight costs for fuel transportation over long distances, USPP’s Novi operations provide a significant strategic and competitive advantage.
Novi Terminal Operations
The Novi Terminal is a 13-acre oil and gas storage facility in Novi, Michigan, part of the greater Detroit metro area. Originally built in 1964 by Gulf Oil Company, the facility benefits from its unique location with no competitive terminal within a 30-mile radius, allowing USPP to efficiently and effectively distribute fuel within this highly populated Southeast Michigan Region and additional markets throughout Michigan.
The terminal features seven storage tanks for a variety of products, including all grades of gasoline, recreational fuel, JP-8 jet fuel (supplied to select National Guard and other military stations in MI, OH, and WI), and clear and red-dye diesel. The state-of-the-art facility features a four-bay Accuload-4 Electronics loading rack, allowing tanker trucks to load fuel 24/7. The facility is fed by an 8” pipeline connected to the Buckeye Pipeline’s Wayne, MI, receiving station, with links to Wolverine Pipeline and refineries in the Chicagoland area.
